Lecturers and students of ALFA College’s School of Visual Communications recently visited Silpakorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. ALFA Cultural Study Trips

Over the years, ALFA students have enjoyed study trips organized by faculty members to various local and foreign sites of cultural and design interest. Local destinations have included:

  • Penang
  • Melaka
  • Langkawi
  • Cameron Highlands
Recent trips overseas have included:

  • Bangkok, Thailand
  • Melbourne, Australia

First Day of School

It’s the first day of the new semester and that means Orientation Day for all new students to ALFA College. There’s always a bit of nervousness and quiet anxiety on the first day so the Head of Marketing, Ms. Jenny Sim, gets things started with a little ice-breaking activity. We do things a little differently here at ALFA College so there’s little time for lounging and hiding behind desks and note-scribbling.

In fact, there is no such thing as an anonymous student at ALFA College, and it’s a little hard for recent SPM leavers to break out of their shells at first. There’s plenty of time to get serious about studies and project work later on. Today is all about opening up and getting comfortable with other students and lecturers.

After brief introductions by the four Heads of Schools, the seniors take over and pitch in to welcome our newcomers. It’s good first day, and student activities and celebrations in the coming weeks will further strengthen student bonds and acclimate students to their new home-away-from-home.

Study Architecture: International Colleges in Malaysia

There is a remarkably close-knit, family atmosphere alive at ALFA College   It comes to life whenever instructors gather and interact with their students, and it is at the core of the relationship which students build with their lecturers and with each other.  Regardless of one’s cultural and religious affiliations, this shared identity as a member of the ALFA College community can lead a student back to success and happiness and validate their decision to study in Malaysia.  That was the discovery Michael, an architecture student from Ghana, made when he came to ALFA College after his early setback at Taylor’s College.
