Earning the Diploma in Early Childhood Education in Malaysia
Ms. Esther Yong of REAL Education Group in Subang Jaya discusses the importance of earning the diploma in Early Childhood Education in Malaysia. The developmental needs of children from 1 to 6 years old require early-childhood education providers be equipped with specific skills and training. The need for professionalizing the ranks of early childhood teachers and care providers has become a top priority of Malaysia’s educational reform and modernization.
Year of the Dragon Festivities at ALFA College Malaysia
The Year of the Dragon starts off with a bang at ALFA College as a local Chinese Lion Dance troupe visits the College to usher in prosperity and auspiciousness for the entire ALFA Family.
Following the Lion Dance, the three Dragons of ALFA arrive to clamorous cheering as they snake their way through crowd then onto the streets of the neighborhood to visit local shopkeepers. The appearance of the dragon is believed to ward off evil spirits and bring fortune and prosperity to local merchants.
Finally, ALFA students take to the stage in a series of competitions and student entertainment. Student teams are tested on their adhoc creative skills and team work in a festive Fashion Design Face-off. Not to be outdone, the full-time students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education programme display their creative handiwork in the Fashion Design Runway Competition. Entries made use of recycled Men’s dress shirt as part of their design.
Let’s Visit REAL Kids Preschool Center
As part of its Early Childhood Education programme, ALFA College has collaborated with the REAL Kids network of nursery schools and invited graduates to train and gain valuable hands-on experience as teachers and interns in their preschool centers.
Successful graduates of the programme are offered guaranteed positions planning and conducting classes for children 1 to 6 years of age, while current students serve as interns to get practical training working with young children.
Here we visit the REAL Kids Center in USJ 2 in Subang Jaya as Ms. Lorraine leads us through the facilities and learning areas designed for the children. We visit with several classes underway and observe children participating in gymnastics, swimming, arts and crafts, spelling and storytelling.
Later we sit down with Principal Adelene as she discusses the support system in place at REAL Kids to provide teachers with the curriculum and planning framework for building their daily schedules. “Teachers are not left guessing or struggling to figure out what to do. There are guidelines to help new teachers structure their classes as well as how to relate effectively with this age group.”
For those interested in pursuing a career in ECE, the ALFA /REAL Kids affiliation provides the qualifications and employment opportunities to fulfill your dream of working with children while building a strong career portfolio.
