Edmund Tham

Edmund Tham graduated in Graphic Design from ALFA College. He was employed at an advertising agency for three years before deciding to pursue his lifelong passion; photography. “It was hard in the beginning. While working as a graphic designer, I did some freelance photography and through personal referrals. I managed to get new clients. Initially, I did all kinds of shoots to make enough money just to get my business going”.

Later on, Edmund started his own gallery named eGallery (e=EdmundTham). He specializes in wedding photography to a level equal with international standards.

Edmund became the first Malaysian to be recognized among the World’s Top 9 Wedding Photographers in 2008 by the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), a professional organization of wedding photojournalists and photographers worldwide. Edmund is only the second Asian wedding photographer to make the world’s top 10 list in WPJA history. Throughout these few years, Edmuns had also garnered many international awards from WPJA, WPPI, WPPM, etc.

To success as a wedding photographer, “You have to have a great attitude. You have to communicate and listen to your clients to find out what they want and what they’re like. And you have to be creative, of course”.

Edmund believes that great photography goes beyond techniques and technical know-how. For him, it requires “an expressive mind, a keen eye and kindred heart to grasp the finer details, thus revealing emotions that speak volumes”. The award-winning photographer has been featured in Prestige Malaysia, Tatler Malaysia, The Star, TV3, Oriental Daily, Sin Chew Daily, and Utusan Malaysia, among others.
