This semester, 36 students and 5 lecturers from the Diploma in Architecture had the opportunity to conduct a site visit to observe the cultural, heritage and modern Malacca city from 3rd to 5th August, 2015.
The aim of this site visit was to study and analyse various aspects and features of architecture and urban planning as well as to study its township with respect to services, infrastructures, housing, etc as well as to see the actual concept of existing architectures on site. Some of the issues discussed include analysis strategies, planning, architectural looks and how to better educate students about environmental and site context.
Overall the trip was energizing, enlightening and engaging. Students were able to observe the different enclosure architectural by comparing the heritage and modern looks and this was made possible due to everyone’s team spirit.
